Raising the Roof on the Let’s Build Project

Last week we fired up the BBQ and gathered our partners on site for the Let’s Build roof shout – a Kiwi tradition that couldn’t be more fitting for this project. With sausages in hand and a drink to toast the occasion, we marked the halfway point of the build and celebrated just how far we’ve come.

This milestone has only been possible thanks to an incredible team effort. Livingstone have led the charge on the build, bringing their skills, energy, and commitment to driving the project forward. The backbone of materials has come from ITM Taupō and ITM Tūrangi, ensuring the house is not just standing but standing strong. The design vision came to life through Jackie Robinson Architecture, who set us on course with a home that will be both beautiful and functional.

Getting the roof over our heads wouldn’t have been possible without Roofing Industries supplying the product and the craft of Makuch Roofing to get it in place. Thanks to Rocket Scaffold, the team had safe and sturdy access every step of the way. And for the finishing touches to the halfway stage, First Windows Taupō and APL Glass have made sure the light will pour into this home with top-quality windows and glass.

The roof shout was more than just a chance to enjoy a sausage in the sun – it was a moment to thank those who have already rolled up their sleeves, and to connect with the partners lined up to take us through the next stages. The energy around the site were a reminder of what this project is all about: community spirit.

From here, the excitement only builds (literally!). Every step takes us closer to auction day, where this home will transform into something even bigger: vital funding to help Lake Taupō Hospice continue providing care and support to patients and families in our community.

To everyone who has been part of the journey so far – thank you. Let’s keep the momentum going and bring this project home.

Next announcement will be the auction date. Can you hear it already? Going once, going twice……. sold!!!!!
