A message from our CEO
Dearest Taupō Community,
As we approach the end of another year, I want to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who has supported Lake Taupō Hospice throughout 2025. Hospice care is only possible because of the generosity of our community, and this year we have felt that support in countless meaningful ways.
We are deeply grateful for the businesses and individuals who have backed us through donations, sponsorships, partnerships, services, and volunteering. Every contribution - large or small - helps us continue delivering care to patients and their whānau when they need it most. Your support strengthens every part of our organisation and allows us to keep improving the experience we provide.
This year we celebrated several key initiatives, including Let’s Build, which brought together builders, suppliers, tradespeople, and supporters in an inspiring show of community spirit. Our Tropical Holiday Raffle was another highlight, giving a lucky pair an unforgettable getaway while raising vital funds for hospice services.
We also want to acknowledge the fundraisers organised on our behalf. The BNI Golf Tournament is a standout example of the impact community-led events can have. We were honoured to receive support from the Dr’s Orchestra Quintet and the Taupō Brass Band, whose performances brought people together and added something special to our fundraising efforts. We are continually moved by the groups, clubs, and individuals who support us in their own creative ways - helping ensure hospice care remains accessible, local, and compassionate.
One of our most dependable sources of income continues to be our Hospice Shops, powered entirely by community generosity - from donated goods and sustainable shoppers to the dedicated staff and volunteers who keep everything running. Their commitment remains one of our organisation’s greatest strength.
As we wrap up 2025, I want to acknowledge our clinical team, operational staff, volunteers, and board members for the heart, professionalism, and care they bring every day. I also want to recognise our patients and their whānau, who welcome us into their lives during some of the most vulnerable and meaningful moments. Their trust and strength are at the centre of everything we do.
On behalf of the entire Lake Taupō Hospice whānau, I wish you a safe, happy Christmas and a wonderful start to 2026. We look forward to the year ahead with gratitude and optimism.
Warmest wishes,
Christine Rankin
