Hospice Awareness Week 2026 – Wrap Around Love
Today marks the beginning of Hospice Awareness Week across Aotearoa, with this year’s beautiful campaign theme, Wrap Around Love.
The campaign highlights the many ways hospices across New Zealand wrap love, comfort, dignity, and care around patients and their whānau during some of life’s most challenging moments.
To launch the week, we invite our community to watch this powerful national Hospice Awareness Week video, featuring stories of care and connection — with some scenes filmed right here in Taupō.
At Lake Taupō Hospice, Wrap Around Love is something we see every single day.
As a community-based hospice, we meet every patient uniquely, wherever they are in their journey. No two stories are ever the same, and neither is the care we provide. Whether it’s nursing care at home, emotional support for families, equipment, companionship, or simply being there to listen — hospice care is deeply personal.
None of this would be possible without the incredible support of our staff, volunteers, sponsors, donors, local businesses, and wider community. Together, you are part of the circle of care that allows us to continue supporting local families when they need it most.
This Hospice Awareness Week, we not only want to create greater awareness of what hospice truly does, but also give back to our community through meaningful events that bring people together.
Kōwhai of Care
This week we continue our Kōwhai of Care project — creating a living legacy of remembrance, hope, and compassion for our community.
Together, we are working towards planting 500 kōwhai trees along Wharewaka Road, creating a beautiful space that will bloom for generations to come. Each tree represents care, connection, and the lasting impact of hospice within our community.
We would love your support to help us reach our goal.
