Behind the Scenes Roles

| Not everyone wants to engage with patients, their families or the general public and we havea number of roles which support volunteers who want to work behind the scenes. Also, some of these roles support remote volunteering. |

Description |
| Administration support |
Administrative assistance to hospice staff. This could include things such as preparing training materials, data entry, reception duties or general administrative tasks. Some of these can be done as remote volunteering opportunities |
| Communications and Displays |
Assisting with the development and maintenance of hospice information displays. Includes all aspects including art work, copy writing and layout. Some aspects of this role are suitable for remote volunteering |
| Cooking / Baking |
Preparing food in your own home which is frozen and distributed to patients on an as needed basis. This could include simple meals through to biscuits, cakes and other treats. Frozen food is stored at Hospice. |
| Electrician |
Are you a qualified electrician who can help test and tag our equipment? We need assistance both at the shop (testing donated goods) as well as throughout hospice house. |
| Facebook |
Assisting with the upkeep, communication flow and community engagement on the hospice facebook page. Some aspects of this role are suitable for remote volunteering |
| Hospice House – Handyman |
Completing handyman and general tasks of a similar nature around hospice house, to keep things working and in tip top condition. On an as needed basis |
| Hospice House – Gardening team |
The extensive grounds of hospice house provide a unique environment for patients, their families and the bereaved to pause for quiet reflection or use as an activity base. The gardening team is responsible for planning and completing of the maintenance, development and ongoing improvement of the grounds |
| Mechanic |
Are you a qualified mechanic who can help maintain our fleet of vehicles, irrigation pumps and other mechanical items? On an as needed basis. |
| Plumber |
Are you a qualified plumber who can help maintain our plumbing services at hospice house? On an as needed basis |
| Proof Reading |
This includes proof reading and editing patients biographies before final copies are printed and published, hospice newsletters, reports and other communications materials. Some aspects of this role are suitable for remote volunteering |
| Special and Research projects |
From time to time research projects or other self-contained projects are needed. These opportunities particularly suit remote volunteering. |
| Shop – Depot |
Working behind the scenes in the hospice shops (Taupo or Turangi) sorting, preparing and pricing donated goods for sale in the shop |
| Trade Me |
We maximise the use of Trade Me to sell selected donated goods on line rather than through our shops. |
| Website |
