Hospice Awareness Week is an opportunity for us to profile and celebrate the services that we provide to our community.

Throughout the week there will be lots of opportunities for everyone to get to know what we have on offer, how we support and care for those in with life limiting illnesses and how we prepare, comfort and assist their families and friends during the journey.

You will get the chance to meet some of our staff and volunteers, tour our facilities and hear about the impact of our work.  You will also see lots of displays around town.

Here are our events for the week:

Postcard Drops

Keep your eye on your mail box in the week leading up to Hospice Awareness Week.  We will be doing a mail box drop of our information postcards.  These cards carry a key hospice message on one side and talks about how that message is enacted locally on the other.  It also contains an invitation to our Open House Event.

Click on each postcard to see our local message

 Marae Visits

Our nursing and family support members will be holding presentations at a number of marae around the area served by Lake Taupo Hospice.

This is a great way for us to connect directly with our communities and explain the work that we do.

An Introduction to Hospice

This presentation gives a broad introduction to Lake Taupo Hospice and the palliative care role we play within the Taupo, Turangi and surrounding communities.

Taking you from our volunteer foundations to today’s organisation, it covers the services we provide, our area, philosophy of care, funding models and volunteer components.

There will be plenty of opportunity for asking questions and it’s a great way to get up to date on everything we do.

 We’re out and about!

Throught Hospice Awareness Week you will see us out and about all over the place.  Look out for an information stall in Turangi township, in shops and doctors surgeries all over our area and at the Taupo Market on Saturday 19th May.

We’ll also be up in lights on the electronic billboards outside of the Information Centre and above Contours Gym in Taupo.

Our Hospice Shops will have big displays in them – including a display of the equipment we loan to patients.

We’ll also be keeping everyone up to date with stories and videos both on our Facebook page, the Neighbourly website and here on our webpage.  If you are on our email subscribers list you will also have daily stories and photos direct to your inbox.
