Entry to Services

Hospice and Palliative Care Services are available to any person with advanced progressive life limiting disease (cancer or non cancer) that is unresponsive to treatment and who could reasonably expect to be in their last year of life.

Access to all Lake Taupo Hospice and Lakes DHB funded services is through a single point of entry with a referral to the Lake Taupo Hospice Care Coordinators. For more information contact the Patient Care coordinator. Phone: 377 4252


Education

The venue at Hospice House 7 Sunset St is available to any professional health related organization for education related purposes.

The following education programme is available all year round

Liverpool Care of the Dying Pathway

The LCP affirms the Lake Taupo Hospice Trust, Hospice New Zealand, Ministry of Health & Lakes DHB vision for transferring an internationally recognised model of excellence for care of the dying from hospices into hospital and community settings. It encourages a multi-professional approach to the delivery of care that focuses on the physical, psychological and spiritual comfort for patients who are in their last days of life, and their family/whanau.
The LCP will be implemented by the Lake Taupo Hospice Palliative Nurse Specialist into all care settings –Taupo Hospital, District Nursing, Community and Aged Residential Care Facilities by the end of 2010.


Clinical Support Guidelines

Lake Taupo Hospice Trust have adopted and endorsed the clinical symptom management guidelines provided by the Waikato Regional Palliative Specialist Centre.
